The following are the Terms & Conditions for Cardrona Alpine Resort and Treble Cone. Click the dropdown arrow next to each category for T&Cs information.

Definitions

In these Terms & Conditions the following words have the following meaning:

“Cardrona” means Cardrona Alpine Resort Ltd.

Cardrona is a New Zealand owned company. The name that will appear on your receipt will be Cardrona Alpine Resort.

The period of operation for Cardrona summer season is nominally December 10, 2021 – April 3rd, 2022. The duration of the seasons will be subject to weather & market conditions & may vary from the above dates as a result. Cardrona offers no warranty in respect of the season opening, duration of the season, operating days &/or the number of lifts & facilities operating on any day or time.

All prices quoted on this website are in New Zealand dollars & are valid at the time of printing but subject to change without notice. Rates include GST.

PartPay is an externally owned & operated payment channel. When using PartPay, additional Terms & Conditions may apply, see the PartPay website for details.

Pass means Electronic RFID pass & the products associated with it.Purchasers of a Cardrona pass will be deemed to have accepted the following Terms & Conditions.

Covid-19

If COVID-19 travel restrictions and/or government-mandated health measures impact your ability to visit us and you’re unable to travel on another date, we will offer you a credit for Summer 22/23 or a refund.

From December 3, 2021, Cardrona requires all guests aged 12 years, 3 months and above to show their My Vaccine Pass. If you choose not to be vaccinated and you purchased your summer experience before December 3, please contact info@cardrona-treblecone.com to arrange a refund.If we need to shorten our season due to COVID-19 and you’re unable to visit on another date due to travel restrictions, we'll refund you on a pro-rata basis, based on the number of days you have used your pass.

21/22 summer season refund requests must be emailed to info@cardrona-treblecone.com by April 30, 2022. Refund/credit requests are not to be assumed and any requests received after this date will be at the discretion of Cardrona Resorts and/or RealNZ.

Any partial refund or credit value, where applicable, will be calculated on a pro-rata basis. Pro-rata value will be calculated at the equivalent cost of a regular season day/multi-day pass (or applicable product) for each day the product has already been used.In light of government-mandated health measures, Cardrona resorts may require guests to comply with any number of measures including but not limited to the wearing of face masks/coverings, NZ COVID Tracer app sign-in, capacity management/restrictions and any other measures required to limit the spread of COVID-19 or any other communicable illness.

Lift Passes

Purchasers of a Cardrona pass will be deemed to have accepted the following Terms & Conditions:

  1. Carry your pass at all times. If a pass holder has forgotten their pass, a replacement card can be issued at the mountain Ticket Office. This pass now replaces the forgotten pass, which will become deactivated from that day forward.
  2. A lost or stolen pass must be reported to Cardrona immediately. A replacement pass may be issued at the discretion of Cardrona.
  3. A $10 fee may be charged for a replacement pass. This is at the discretion of Cardrona.
  4. Passes remain the property of Cardrona.
  5. Passes are non-transferable. It may only be used by the person whose name & photograph are assigned to the pass. Fraudulent use of your pass will result in confiscation of the pass & prosecution of all parties involved.
  6. Your pass cannot be used for commercial purposes without the consent of Cardrona.
  7. The pass holder uses the resort at his/her own risk.
  8. The pass holder assumes all risk of personal injury & property loss or damage.
  9. The pass holder agrees to the rules, regulations & directions as expressed or implied by Cardrona. All pass holders at Cardrona must abide by the mountain biker’s responsibility code. This can be viewed on our Mountain Bike Safety Page.
  10. Misconduct will result in withdrawal or suspension of pass privileges. Misconduct also covers unsocial behaviour & terms expressed or implied at the resort.
  11. Any breach of the Terms & Conditions relating to the use of the pass by the user may result in the withdrawal of the pass & all associated privileges.
  12. Any person who uses or attempts to use the facilities at Cardrona without a valid & lawful pass & without reasonable excuse will be subject to:
    Prosecution &/or
    b. Requirement to purchase a valid lift pass for that day &/or
    c. A penalty of $150 &/or a trespass notice preventing further access to the resort & all other ski areas in the Southern Lakes region for a period of 2 years.
  13. Cardrona Resorts passes are non-refundable. However, refunds will be considered in extenuating circumstances. A doctor’s certificate may be requested to support refund requests based on medical grounds. Refund applications must be in writing with supporting documentation & sent to info@cardrona-treblecone.com. The basis of any refund will be determined by the usage of the pass & is at the absolute discretion of Cardrona Resorts. Cardrona Resorts reserves the right to apply any processing charges for refund applications.
Cardrona$
  1. Cardrona$ are redeemed on the basis that 1 Cardrona$ is equivalent to 1 NZ dollar.
  2. Cardrona$ can be used to purchase products or part-payment of a product for sale at Cardrona Alpine Resort only.
  3. Cardrona$ cannot be redeemed against a prior completed purchase.
  4. Cardrona$ can only be redeemed upon presentation of a valid pass loaded with a current Cardrona$ value (by the person named on the card)
  5. Cardrona$ can be redeemed by the named pass holder for the purchase of products for other pass holders. e.g. parent for a child.
  6. If there is a dispute about the balance remaining on a pass, this must be raised immediately by contacting Cardrona on +64 3 443 7341 or by emailing info@cardrona.com. No resolution will be available to the user to issues raised after the end of the season (winter or summer) in which the purchases are made.
  7. Cardrona$ are non-refundable & non-transferrable.
  8. If you’ve got both Individual & Family Cardrona$ loaded, your individual balance will be used first!
  9. Cardrona$ expire after 12 months of inactivity – if you haven’t spent or loaded any Cardrona$ on your pass in the last year.
Bike & Mountain Cart Rental
  1. Bookings are not confirmed until paid in full.
  2. You will need to provide a credit card for each rental agreement.
  3. Insurance can be purchased for bike rental products.
  4. All equipment must be returned at the end of your rental agreement.
  5. If equipment is unreturned or damaged, Cardrona will make contact to discuss any issues & may charge your credit card for any damaged or unreturned items.
Bike Lessons

A credit card number is required at the time of booking to secure your lesson.A phone number that you will be contactable on during your holiday is required at time of booking.Bookings are not confirmed until paid in full.Bookings can be rescheduled or refunded with no charge with more than 24hrs notice.

There will be no refunds if the booking is cancelled less than 2hrs before the scheduled start time, or in a “no show” situation.

Definitions

Both ski areas are owned and operated by Cardrona Alpine Resorts Ltd and referred to as “we”, “us”, “our”, “Cardrona resorts” or “dual mountain”. “RealNZ” refers to Real Group Ltd and “you” refers to the purchaser, holder or user of any Product or Service.
  3. The name that will appear on your receipt will be Cardrona Alpine Resorts Ltd.
  4. As a subsidiary of RealNZ, guest data may be shared interchangeably between Cardrona resorts and RealNZ and communications may be received from either party.
  5. The period of operation for the Cardrona winter season is nominally June 11 – October 16, 2022, and TC June 25 - September 25, 2022. The period of operation for the Cardrona summer season is nominally December 10, 2021 – April 3, 2022. The duration of the seasons will be subject to snow; weather and market conditions and may vary from the above dates as a result. Cardrona Resorts offers no warranty in respect of the season opening, duration of the season, operating days &/or the number of lifts and facilities operating on any day or time.
  6. All prices quoted on this website are in New Zealand dollars and are valid at the time of publication but subject to change without notice. Rates include GST.
  7. Zip is an externally owned and operated payment channel. When using Zip, additional Terms and Conditions may apply, see the Zip website for details.
  8. Pass means Electronic RFID pass and the products associated with it.
  9. Products purchased are valid only for the season in which they are purchased, and will expire at the end of each winter and summer season.
  10. Force majeure” means the occurrence of events including but not limited to: COVID-19 or any other health epidemic or pandemic, natural or environmental disaster (including but not limited to floods, earthquake, or other adverse weather conditions), governmental actions, war or other unforeseeable circumstances beyond the control of the Parties against which it would have been unreasonable for the affected party to take precautions and which the affected party cannot avoid even by using its best efforts.
  11. For the specific purposes of these Terms and Conditions, “COVID-19” and “force majeure” may be used interchangeably and are equally applicable for all instances/examples of force majeure as described in section 10.
  12. Terms and Conditions are correct at the time of publication but may be subject to change.
Age/Eligibility Definitions
  1. All ages are taken as of June 1, 2022.
  2. Child is 6 – 17yrs inclusive or currently attending school. Under 6yrs ski or ride for free. All lift users require a Cardrona/TC MyCard. Photographic ID will be required.
  3. Student is 18+yrs enrolled full time (minimum 32 weeks in a calendar year) with a New Zealand or Australian tertiary institution. Student ID & proof of full time status (letter from institution) is required. ID card must be in English & include a valid expiry date. ISIC cards are not accepted.
  4. Senior is 65–74yrs of age. Photo ID will be required.
  5. 75yrs of age or older, on day of purchase, ski for free. Please collect a complimentary lift pass from the ticket office. Photo ID will be required.
Covid-19
  1. If COVID-19 travel restrictions impact your ability to visit us and you’re unable to travel on another date, we will offer you a credit for winter 2023 or a refund.
  2. If we need to shorten our season due to COVID-19 and you’re unable to visit on another date due to travel restrictions, we'll refund you on a pro-rata basis, based on the number of days you have used your pass.
  3. Refund requests for 2022 ski bookings must be received no later than October 31st, 2022, by contacting info@cardrona-treblecone.com. Refund/credit requests are not to be assumed and any requests received after this date will be at the discretion of Cardrona Resorts and/or RealNZ.

Lift Passes

Purchasers of a Cardrona Resorts pass and/or field users will be deemed to have accepted the following Terms & Conditions:

  6. Single and Multi-Day lift passes purchased in-season are open-dated and can be used at either Cardrona or Treble Cone on any day of the season in which they are purchased.
  7. A blackout period applies to Saver season passes from Monday July 4 – Friday July 22, 2022 inclusive. Pass holders of Saver season passes will be unable to use the lifts during this period, unless by purchasing a valid day pass. Saver season pass is not valid at Treble Cone at any stage during the season.
  8. Earlybird Multi passes are valid for use at Cardrona and Treble Cone during the 2022 winter season only. Earlybird Multi-Day passes may not be used during the blackout period from Monday July 4 – Friday July 22, 2022 inclusive.
  9. Your pass cannot be used for commercial purposes without the consent of Cardrona Resorts.
  10. The pass holder uses the resort at his/her own risk.
  11. The pass holder assumes all risk of personal injury & property loss or damage.
  12. Snow sports (including skiing and snowboarding), mountain biking, alpine hiking, Mountain Carting and utilising road access to alpine areas to undertake such activities are all potentially hazardous. In recognition of the inherent risks associated, you agree that you use and access the Cardrona and Treble Cone ski areas with the knowledge and appreciation of those risks. Whilst we have taken all practicable steps to, where possible, identify and mitigate hazards and obstacles within the both ski areas (marked and unmarked, natural and manmade) and road access to it, you accept the risk of personal injury and property loss or damage that may result from your use of this facility.
  13. The pass holder agrees to the rules, regulations & directions as expressed or implied by Cardrona Resorts. All pass holders at Cardrona and Treble Cone must abide by the snow user’s responsibility code.  This can be viewed on our Ski Patrol & Slope Safety page.
  14. Misconduct in the opinion of Cardrona/Treble Cone management may result in loss of pass without refund.
  15. Misconduct includes, but is not limited to, reckless or dangerous behaviour while participating in on-mountain actives, excessive speed within a slow or learning zone, disregard for closed areas, unsociable or abusive behaviour, being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, supply of incorrect information or any other breach of the conditions of service.
  16. All pass holders must abide by all signs and instructions when driving on ski area access roads. Failure to abide by signs and instructions or reckless and dangerous driving may result in cancellation or suspension of the pass with no refund.
  17. Any breach of the Terms & Conditions relating to the use of the pass by the user may result in the withdrawal of the pass & all associated privileges.
  18. Any person who uses or attempts to use the facilities at Cardrona Resorts without a valid & lawful pass & without reasonable excuse will be subject to:
    a. Prosecution &/or
    b. Requirement to purchase a valid lift pass for that day &/or

  20. Due to NZ Civil Aviation laws and DOC regulations Cardrona Resorts do not permit the use of drones anywhere within the ski area boundaries. Commercial film production must apply for special consent, please see our Gold X page for more information on the application process and legal requirements.
  21. Tubing is not permitted anywhere at Treble Cone. Smaller plastic play toboggans are only permitted on the snowplay and magic carpet learner’s slope depending on snow conditions. At Cardrona, tubing may be available at certain times and by purchasing a Tubing pass for use in a specified area. Please contact info@cardrona-treblecone.com for more information.
  22. At Treble Cone, paragliders-can take off along the Matukituki ridgeline, but must not fly over, nor land within the ski area boundary. If taking off outside the saddle area, they must be far enough along Towers Ridge to be past the Motatapu Chutes area.
Cardrona$

Accommodation
  1. Cardrona Apartments are still open and operational even when the lifts are closed, and we, therefore, do not refund or amend accommodation based on Cardrona Alpine Resort or Cardrona Bike Park resort closures that are unrelated to COVID-19.
  2. Upon check-in, credit card details will be kept on file and charged for any damages or incidentals incurred during your stay.
  3. All refund requests must be received in writing and acknowledged.
  4. For those living in New Zealand, if a lockdown occurs within 2 weeks of your check in date and you cannot visit due to local COVID-19 travel restrictions, we will offer you a full refund on your apartment booking with no administration fees. If a lockdown occurs more than 2 weeks prior to your check in date, and you decided to cancel then we are happy to refund in full. If you do not cancel 2 weeks prior to arrival and choose to wait for lockdown restrictions to be lifted, then our normal T&C’s will apply.
  5. If you make a reservation and live outside of New Zealand and cannot travel due to current and ongoing border restrictions, your reservation will be fully refundable up until March 31st, 2022. From April 1st, 2022, our regular terms and conditions apply as per below:
  6. To secure your accommodation, we require full payment within 7 days of making a booking.
  7. If a booking is cancelled or modified 30 days or more prior to the arrival date a minimum of $200 administration fee applies.
  8. Any cancellations within 30 days of arrival are non-refundable.
  9. If you have booked through a third party, please check with your travel agent/booking site for their individual Cancellation Policy.
  10. You are welcome to request specific rooms but in the case of unforeseen circumstances, such as room damages or maintenance issues, amendments may be made.
  11. We offer free parking at Cardrona but cannot take responsibility for any damages caused to the vehicle during your stay.
Rentals
  1. You will need to provide a credit card for each rental agreement.
  2. Insurance can be purchased for specific rental products.
  3. All equipment must be returned at the end of your rental agreement.
  4. If equipment is unreturned or damaged, Cardrona/Treble Cone will make contact to discuss any issues & may charge your credit card for any damaged or unreturned items.
Snow Sports School
  1. A credit card number is required at the time of booking to secure your lesson.
  2. A phone number that you will be contactable on during your holiday is required at time of booking.
  3. Bookings are not confirmed until paid in full.
  4. Private lesson bookings can be rescheduled or refunded with no charge with more than 24hrs notice.
  5. There will be a 50% charge for private lesson bookings that are cancelled between 2 & 24hrs notice.
  6. There will be no refunds if the private lesson booking is cancelled less than 2hrs before the scheduled start time, or in a “no show” situation.
  7. Group lessons and packages are only valid at Cardrona. Treble Cone operates private lessons only.
Ski Kindy
  1. A credit card number is required at the time of booking to secure your lesson.
  2. A phone number that you will be contactable on during your holiday is required at time of booking.
  3. Bookings are not confirmed until paid in full.
  4. Bookings can be rescheduled or refunded with no charge with more than 48 hours notice.
  5. Bookings cancelled within 48 hours of start date will be charged a $25 per day cancellation fee & the balance refunded.
  6. There will be no refund if the booking is cancelled on the day.
  7. For Ski Kindy Afternoon Group Lessons, minimum numbers apply. If there is only one child, the lesson will only run for one hour.
WST & Parks Squad
  1. The following information is provided to ensure that the Terms & Conditions that the Cardrona Parks Squad/TC Freeride & Wanaka Ski Team programmes offered are clear & understood. In these Terms we have used "we" or “us”, referring to the Cardrona Parks Squad & Wanaka Alpine Ski Team. "You" is referring to the person or family member who is registered in the Cardrona Parks Squad, TC Freeride Programme or Wanaka Alpine Ski Team.
  2. Fees: Full payment of training fees is due before the first training session. No training will be permitted until fees are paid in full. Your place in training is not confirmed & coaching will not commence until the payment is received. Placement in training is not guaranteed as is based on spots available within levels. All prices that we quote are in New Zealand dollars, but may change without notice. Programme costs include GST.

    Competition days are counted as full training days.
  3. Minimum Numbers: If we do not get the required minimum number of athletes for a particular training option we may be forced to cancel, in which case we will contact you with alternative options or provide a refund.

    We require a minimum of 4 athletes per coach for all programmes.
  4. Refund Policy: If cancellation occurs 30 days before the first day of training, a refund of 80% of the training fees will apply.

    When the mountain is open & on-snow training is scheduled with coaches, this is classified as a training day. If you choose not to train due to sickness, tiredness, injury or other commitments, there is no provision for a replacement day, or any form of refund.

    If the mountain is closed, or the coach calls the training off due to weather, we will offer an alternative plan for the day or a replacement day to be scheduled for later in the season.

    There are no refunds for unused transport.

    For long-term, season-ending injuries, refunds of the training fees will be considered on medical grounds only, when supported by a doctor’s certificate.

    We strongly suggest that visiting international athletes insure their training fees against injury or sickness. We will not be liable for any expenses due to injury, sickness, theft, travel, or loss of training fees.
  5. Liability: Snow sports involve a certain element of risk & are therefore undertaken at your own risk. We accept no responsibility for any accidents, damage, loss, injury, sickness, death, cancellation, delay or other unforeseen events that occur during the course of a training programme on or off-snow.

    We reserve the right to decline, cancel or withdraw any athlete. We expect athletes to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times as set out in the athlete code of conduct in the athlete handbook.
  6. Equipment: All athletes must wear a helmet at all times. This is compulsory across all programmes at Cardrona/TC. Back protectors are also recommended for athletes. The coach has the right to refuse training to athletes who do not have the appropriate equipment.
  7. Lift Lane Use: Use of the Snow Sports School lift line is a PRIVILEGE for athletes & available EXCLUSIVELY during training sessions ONLY. No friends, no “filmers”, no physios, no additional coaches, no helpers, no parents or relatives or anyone else without a sticker on their helmet. Any misuse of this privilege will result in appropriate consequences, to be determined by coaches & management.
Instructor Training Centre

Fees

  1. Course fees are due by 8 weeks prior to the official start date of any course, or at time of booking if inside 8 weeks. Your place in training is not confirmed & coaching will not commence until the registration form is complete & all fees are received.

Refund policy*

  1. Upon written confirmation informing of cancellation from the course (including illness or injury before or after course commencement), the following cancellation policy will apply:
  2. More than 6 weeks prior to course commencement: 100% refund (less a $500 administration fee)
  3. Less than 6 weeks prior to course commencement: NZSIA/SBINZ exam fees only refunded
  4. After course commencement: Non-refundable
  5. Package bookings that include accommodation are as per the above except the cancellation timeframe is 2 months, versus 6 weeks
  6. A Travel Insurance Policy which includes Cancellation Cover in excess of the course costs is therefore strongly recommended for all course participants. For New Zealanders, please look at comprehensive domestic travel insurance & ensure it covers snow sports.

Minimum numbers

  1. If we do not get the required minimum number of 4 trainees per group for a particular training option we may not be able to run that training. In the event that we are forced to cancel a training programme, we will contact you with alternate options.

Unused training & other booked items

  1. No refund will be given for any unused training sessions or other booked items (whether package or otherwise) due to trainee’s late arrival, illness or injury. Make up days are not able to be offered. In the case of resort closure due to weather conditions, mechanical failure, or for any other reason outside of the control of ITC we will attempt, but do not guarantee to reschedule the planned training. This training may be on or off snow.

Liability

  1. Snow sports involve a certain element of risk & are undertaken at the individual's own risk. Cardrona Resorts, Instructor Training Centre (ITC) & its trainers are not responsible for any injury that occurs during the course of a training programme, on or off snow.

Professionalism/Privileges

  1. Adherence to the ITC Code of Conduct will be maintained. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to, loss of training &/or pass privileges.

COVID-19

  1. If COVID-19 travel restrictions impact your ability to visit us and you’re unable to travel on another date, we will offer you a credit for winter 2023 or a refund.
  2. For lift passes, if we need to shorten our season due to COVID-19 and you’re unable to visit on another date due to travel restrictions, we'll refund you on a pro-rata basis, based on the number of days you have used your pass.
  3. Refund requests for 2022 bookings must be received no later than October 31st, 2022, by contacting itc@cardrona-treblecone.com. Refund/credit requests are not to be assumed and any requests received after this date will be at the discretion of Cardrona Resorts and/or RealNZ.
  4. Any partial refund or credit value where applicable, will be calculated on a pro-rata basis. Pro-rata value will be calculated at the equivalent cost of a regular season 2022 Day/Multi-day Pass (or applicable product) for each day the product has already been used.
  5. In light of government mandated health measures, Cardrona Resorts may require guests to comply with any number of measures including but not limited to the wearing of face masks/coverings, NZ COVID Tracer app sign-in, capacity management/restrictions and any other measures required to limit the spread of COVID-19 or any other communicable illness.
Transport

Date-Specific Transport

  1. Please reconfirm your transport booking by 6pm the day before travel to confirm pickup details – you can do this by calling 0800 440 800.
  2. The bus runs on a tight schedule with many pick up points, so please be ready at your departure point at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled pick-up time. In the event of a missed pick-up, please contact us on 0800 440 800. You can also call this number until 6pm the night before your departure to reschedule your transport. Any amendments (including cancellations & refund requests) after this time will be at the discretion of Cardrona Resorts.
  3. Return transport departs Cardrona at 4.15pm, returning to Wanaka or Queenstown approximately 1 hour later.
  4. If you need to pick up rental gear, lift passes &/or lesson tickets, we recommend visiting the Queenstown/Wanaka store the day before you head up the mountain. Our team will make sure you have everything you need so you can head straight to the slopes when you arrive on the mountain.
  5. In the event of a closed day, we will endeavour to reschedule your booking.

Open-Dated Transport - Agent bookings only

  1. Please contact our reservations team on 0800 440 800 at least 24hr hours before date of travel to confirm your travel dates, pickup times & pickup locations.
