Enhancing your
experience this season

The way we are selling day and multi-day passes for Winter 2023 is changing - here's what you need to know!

Better mountain experience

We're improving your on-mountain experience during peak times by reducing lift queues and carpark struggles

Limiting daily capacity

To reduce on-mountain numbers during peak times, we're limiting daily puchases of day and multi-day passes

Choose your mountain and days

Day and multi-day passes will ask you to specify a mountain and day(s) to visit. Multi-day passes require you to lock in a "window"

Winter '23 update FAQs

How does limiting the number of people on the mountain benefit me?

Fewer people on the mountains means a better on-mountain experience for everyone. With this new strategy, we’re aiming for shorter wait times, more room to ski/snowboard, and more help available from our incredible on-mountain team.

Can I still use my multi-day pass at both mountains?

If you buy an Earlybird or “Flexi” multi-day pass, then yes. Regular, in-season multi-day passes will be mountain and date-specific (to be used within a window e.g. 2 out of 3 days).

Is this part of your sustainability strategy?

Absolutely – fewer people on the mountain = better environmental outcomes. Our team is focused on delivering amazing sustainability outcomes for our maunga, which you can read more about here.

Can I reschedule if I can't come on a specific day?

Yes, you will be able to, up to 7 days in advance, subject to the capacity available on the day you want to reschedule to. You’ll need to contact our team to do so, and may need to pay a price difference if the new day you’re choosing is at a higher rate.

What if the mountain is closed?

If you have a single day pass and can come another day, the team will help you reschedule to another day at no extra charge.

If you have a multi-day pass, first check and see what your “windows” are – as an example, if you have a 2-day pass and you’re in town for 3, you may still be able to use your multi-day pass within your time in Queenstown/Wānaka. If you are unable to use any days in your multi-day pass due to the mountains being closed, then contact our team to reschedule your days to one outside of your pass window, or to get a refund.

If only one mountain is closed, then depending on capacity levels our team may be able to swap  mountain-specific passes to the other ski area.

How will we know if a day is sold out?

If you’re unable to buy a pass online for any given day, it’s sold out. On the day, we’ll be updating the Snow Report and Facebook Snow Report groups (there is one each for Cardrona and Treble Cone) when we’re close to selling out of day passes, then when they’re sold out.

Will there be a waitlist on “sold out” days?

No we won’t be holding a waitlist, but depending on capacity and cancellations we may release more passes throughout the day – keep an eye on the Snow Report for updates.

Are you going to be changing prices across other areas depending on demand?

No, just in-season day and multi-day passes.

Does this mean we can sleep in now?

The early bird still gets the worm in terms of carparking. While your lift access will be guaranteed for the day, you’ll need to get on the road early still if you want a top car park! Carparks are not guaranteed with your lift pass – we still recommend carpooling and using the mountain shuttles.

What about half day passes?

Half day passes will be released daily dependent on capacity. If a day is sold out, we won’t be selling any half day passes. However, afternoon half day passes are likely to be the first thing released if we discover on any given day we have more capacity than we expected!

You are just making skiing more exclusive – what are you doing about that?

The truth of it is that yes, we are increasing the price of a single day on the mountain, but we hope that you will get more value out of your time up here with this strategy.

We have programmes in place to help make skiing and snowboarding more accessible, including our local schools’ passes, school skiing (with parent day passes), and our Ride Tamariki programme. We’re really proud of these programmes and the way we’re able to open up skiing and snowboarding, especially to our tamariki and rangatahi, to those who wouldn’t be able to without them. You can be a part of it and donate to the Ride Tamariki programme when you buy your pass, too!
