Cardrona is the only place in New Zealand where you can go mountain carting... this is the one for your summer bucket list!
when it gets your blood pumping
You’ll feel alive when you ride our three-wheeled mountain carts! Our most accessible gravity-fuelled activity, this is the only place in the country you can have a mountain carting experience. Don’t get FOMO... this is your shot to make everyone on your friends list jealous.
So how much does it cost? Lift ticket is included to be able to ride our mountain carts. If you have already bought a day pass or have a summer season pass please contact us for a cart-only option.
Mountain carts are purpose-built in Germany for alpine trails; with 3 wheels, a low centre of gravity, and two hydraulic disc brakes.
The total weight per cart cannot exceed 110kg. All safety equipment will be provided. Please wear covered footwear and bring warm clothing layers. All mountain carters must read and sign a Risk Disclosure form and watch the safety briefing video before their session.
Kids must be 8 years old and 100cm+ tall to ride on their own cart – kids younger or shorter can ride tandem with an adult. Please note that a $25 “carting buddy” rate may apply, and the combined weight per cart must not exceed 110kg. Kids under 12 years must mountain cart with a responsible adult.
We have 40 carts maximum available per mountain carting session. You'll need to provide information about your whole party, including their full name, contact phone number and height. When booking your carting session, choose your cart based on your height.
Mountain carting sessions run for two hours. Carting sessions run on the hour, every hour, with the last session starting 2 hours before daily closing time. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before your session start time. Cardrona has three mountain carting trails to choose from – please note that all trails may not be available for all sessions.
with the perfect backdrop
Start or finish your day (or both) with a trip to the Lounge for barista coffee, snacks, lunch, and an alpine barbecue on late night Friday. With a mountain-full of biking and carting action in front of you, and the Southern Alps behind you, there's no better spot to relax with a cold one and share your stories from your day at Cardrona this summer.
