Both mountains had their first pow days for the season, and Captain's is almost ready to open!

Well this week has been a massive one for us - we got a decent dump of snow early in the week and as a result we were able to get Whitestar open, with Captain's not too far away! We're aiming to open Captain's mid-morning tomorrow (Saturday, June 10th) - the snowmaking crew are trying to make a little more snow at the bottom and are just waiting for today's pesky wind to go away. We'll keep you posted on the Cardrona Snow Reports Facebook group!

The July school holidays are now upon us. We're so grateful to all of you who have chosen to spend your time with us these holidays, and we have a couple of tips to make the whole thing go smoother:

  • Pick up your passes, gear and lesson tickets at Basecamp (50 Cardrona Valley Road) the day before. It's our new space and you can also grab food and a cheeky bevvy while you're there!
  • Carpool - use the Snowriders app to ride share if needed - the fewer cars trying to get up the road at the same time, the quicker everyone will get up the mountain.
  • Take an early lunch and ski through the main lunch break to get the most laps.
  • Pack pocket snacks for the kids, bring heaps of layers, and keep smiling!

We can't wait to welcome you all up the mountain these school holidays.

WEATHER FORECAST

The team at SnowsBest are predicting a couple of snow showers over the weekend, clearing to a sunny start to the week. Later on in the week we could be in for a snow day, so keep your eyes peeled on the forecast and our Snow Reports Facebook groups for both mountains for updates.

TREBLE CONE

What a difference a week has made at Treble Cone! The Saddle and the Summit Slopes both opened this week, and the first powder turns of the season were had. Keep an eye on the TC Snow Reports group and their Facebook/Instagram accounts for updates.

Here's Jessie Violet claiming her first turns and hit at the TC Summit today:

EVENTS

Our first major event of the season is only two weeks away on July 24th - the Base Park Attack Slopestyle is part of the SSNZ Slopestyle Series and is for the next generation of freestyle skiers and snowboarders to show off their skills on our terrain park features.

TERRAIN PARKS

The Lil' Bucks jumps are now open, and the North Face Cardrona Parks Crew are also setting up a couple of jib features in there over the weekend. They've still got the McPark 3.0 jib line in place, and a series of boxes on the Learner's Slope.

SUSTAINABILITY

We are heading into our busiest period of the year, so we are going to need your help with our new sustainability initiatives. We are reserving the top carpark for single parents with young kids (while space allows), adaptive guests, and vehicles with 3 or more people in them. Please pay attention to the instructions from the carpark crew and signage! Our return Pines carpark shuttles (from the 1km mark on the road) are free but they will be busy over the holidays. If you are able to drive, please fill up your car.

We also don't have any landfill bins on the mountain so please think about what you buy for your lunch and take away any rubbish if necessary. If you buy in our cafés all our packaging is either recyclable or compostable!
