Since we last posted this blog, a lot has happened...

Last Friday we were gearing up for our Winter 2022 Opening Day. The snow had started to fall, and we knew there was more to come over the weekend. We got the Beginners' Area open on Saturday, and then, this happened:

We were snowed in by the biggest early-season snowfall any of us can remember! Both Cardrona and Treble Cone were totally dumped on, setting us up for an incredible start to Winter 2022. But first, we had a bit of digging to do:

Yup, that's a wall of snow. Photo: Tessa Cross

We re-opened with McDougall's on Thursday and then sneakily opened Whitestar on Thursday afternoon. We've currently got groomers and Ski Patrol working on setup in Captain's Basin, so keep an eye on our social channels and the Snow Report over the coming days for updates on Captain's!

Snowmaking is currently underway down at Valley View and the team are checking out snow cover in Willow's... watch this space.

WEATHER FORECAST

This weekend is looking pretty nice weather-wise, with most of next week looking fairly settled as well. Join our Facebook Snow Reports Group or load up the website Snow Report from 6.30am daily to see what conditions are doing each day.

TREBLE CONE

TC is set to open in just a week now! With a scheduled Opening Day of June 25, and a bucketload of snow up there, it's going to be one of the best starts for Treble Cone we've had in many years. If you're in town for Matariki Weekend, you're not going to want to miss TC's Opening Day.

Yep... that's TC's new groomer. Buried. Photo: Ross Whitelaw

EVENTS

The first event of the season is the Cardrona Mountain Bikes on Snow presented by Torpedo7 - find out more here.

TERRAIN PARKS

The Cardrona Parks Crew have been hard at work, putting in boxes in the Beginners' Area, and fully setting up Lil' Bucks with jumps, box, rail and pipe features. McPark 4.0 is coming in for a short cameo, with four rails being installed at the top of McDougall's tonight so the team can then focus on Stag Lane.

FOOD & BEVERAGE

Like everyone else in New Zealand, it's been a real challenge to find hospitality staff for Winter 2022. This means our food and beverage outlets could look quite different this year, but the food will still be delicious, we promise! We'll keep you up to date here with what our outlets are up to for the week ahead, but please be aware this may change, especially if any of our team need to isolate.

Base Cafe, Bas Bar, Vista Bar and the Lounge are all running as usual. Mezz will be open for pastries and coffee first thing, soup and sandwiches for lunch, cocktails and sweet treats throughout the day, and an a la carte menu from 3-6pm daily. When Captain's opens, there will be hot chips, Impossible Meat/Dads Pies, tap beer, tea and filter coffee. When the team can, there will also be pizzas, hot subs, sandwiches and barista coffee. Noodle Bar will be closed, but in busy times you'll be able to use that space as a warm spot to eat your packed lunch or bought food from any of our other outlets.
