Thanks to last week's snowfall, a whole lot of snowmaking, and some very cool technology, Valley View opened for 2019 on Wednesday!
Did you see last week's report that had the SnowSAT image of Valley View's trails? Well thanks to the handy SnowSAT technology which tells us where we have snow and where we need it, our Terrain and Snow team were able to make snow exactly where we needed it to top up the natural snowfall and get Valley View spinning for 2019! We're stoked to have all our chairlifts open for the season, to be able to park a little bit lower down the mountain and get some great food and drink at Little Meg.
This week we welcomed back our local primary schools for their weekly programmes – Wanaka Primary, Holy Family School, Hawea Flat School, Goldfields Primary and Tarras Primary all started on the slopes this week. It was awesome seeing all the kids and their parents out enjoying the mountain for another season!
The Snow-Forecast.com are showing a bit of a snowy weekend ahead with a clearance mid-next week. There are some chilly temps in the forecast so make sure you bring heaps of layers! Keep checking our Cardrona Snow Reports Facebook group from 6.30am each day to see when there are some fresh lines to be claimed!
Thank you for everything, #McPark, but it's time to get back to regular scheduled programming... the absolute legends of the North Face Cardrona Parks Crew have got Stag Lane up and running! Check out Nico Porteous taking a line through it on its first day – there are even more features in there now!
They've also got the jumps in Lil' Bucks open! Our pipe builder Alli is pushing hard for the Olympic Superpipe at the moment, and the rest of the Big Bucks jumps are also on the way... it's all go in the parks!
Oakley's Prizm Palooza is up at Cardrona this weekend – you can demo some Oakley goggles, join their aprés session on Saturday in The Lounge, and hang out with Stale Sandbech and Carlos Garcia Knight!!
